8 Fun Things to Do in Broward County This Weekend
Friday, August 7 through Sunday, August 9, 2026
Tired of spending the weekend asking, “What should we do today?” Broward County has plenty happening, and you do not need a big plan or a big budget to enjoy it.
This weekend, you can listen to music under the stars, watch a free outdoor movie, help clean the beach, explore a museum, try an acting class, or see a live ballet performance. Here are eight ideas for families, couples, friends, and anyone ready to get out of the house.
1. Dance to Live Music at Holiday Park
Start the weekend with the Starlight Musicals concert in Fort Lauderdale. The band Mischief will play pop music outside at Holiday Park.
Bring a folding chair, blanket, snacks, and something cold to drink. It is a simple and relaxing way to spend Friday night.
When: Friday, August 7, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Where: Holiday Park, Fort Lauderdale
Cost: Free (Fort Lauderdale Parks)

2. Watch Space Jam Under the Stars
Downtown Hollywood is hosting another outdoor movie night at ArtsPark. This weekend’s movie is Space Jam.
Bring lawn chairs or a blanket and arrive early enough to find a good spot. You can also grab dinner or ice cream from one of the nearby restaurants before the movie begins.
When: Friday, August 7, from 8 to 10 p.m.
Where: ArtsPark Amphitheater at Young Circle, Hollywood
Cost: Free (Hollywood FL)
3. Enjoy an Evening of Art in Sunrise
The Sunrise Civic Center will host an opening reception for artist Dominik Ambroise. The exhibit celebrates culture, movement, and the way people connect with one another.
You do not have to know a lot about art to enjoy the evening. Walk around, look at the different pieces, and choose the one that catches your eye.
When: Friday, August 7, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Where: Sunrise Civic Center Theatre and Gallery, Sunrise
Cost: Check with the venue for admission information. (ArtsCalendar.com)

4. Help Clean Hollywood Beach
Wake up early Saturday and do something good for the community by joining the Hollywood Beach Sweep.
Volunteers help pick up trash and other items left behind on the beach. It is a good way to meet people, get some fresh air, and help keep one of Broward County’s favorite beaches beautiful.
When: Saturday, August 8, beginning at 7 a.m.
Where: Hollywood Beach
Cost: Free (Hollywood FL)
5. Try an Improvisation Workshop
Have you ever wanted to try acting without needing to memorize a script? ArtServe is offering a one-day introduction to improvisation.
Improvisation, often called “improv,” is a kind of acting where people make up scenes as they go. It can help you think quickly, become more confident, and have a few laughs along the way.
When: Saturday, August 8, from noon to 3 p.m.
Where: ArtServe, Fort Lauderdale
Cost: Paid workshop. Check ArtServe for current pricing and registration. (ArtsCalendar.com)
6. Meet Local Artists at the NSU Art Museum

Where: NSU Art Museum, Fort Lauderdale
Cost: Museum admission may apply. Check the museum before visiting. (ArtsCalendar.com)
7. Listen to Free Music on Hollywood Beach
